Co-initiated by Maison&Objet, Paris China Design Center, Beijing Design Week, and Beijing KEYI, 2024 Paris Design Week · China Week emerges as the distinctive section devoted to Chinese design within Paris Design Week.

2024 Paris Design Week · China Week proudly presents its Theme of the Year——"Bodiless". Beyond its literal connotation, the curatorial theme embodies not only the intricate artistry of original Chinese lacquer craft, but also encapsulates the philosophical underpinnings of Chinese design. Amidst a complex geopolitical landscape the world is facing, societies, ethnicities, and individuals alike are actively pursuing transformation, exchange, and a rediscovery to foundational values——a “bodiless” state.

Central to this year's exhibition is the fascinating medium of lacquer, through which we reimagine the past and the future of traditional Chinese arts and craftsmanship. Audience will encounter the "lacquer expressions" of Chinese artists and designers, the “haute lacquer renditions” by Chinese brands, and the “daily lacquer practices” of contemporary Chinese designers.

Alongside the main exhibition at 7 rue de Belle, Paris Design Week · China Week extends to include the exhibition of nominated works from 2024 Maison&Objet Design Award China at Paris Nord Villepinte. Simultaneously, a diverse array of public programs will unfold at the Centre culturel de Chine à Paris and the iconic Champs-Elysées.

Looking ahead, Paris Design Week · China Week will meet global visitors every September during Paris Design Week. The Organizing Committee envisions a robust itinerary focusing on economic partnerships, cultural dialogues, and other initiatives to foster deeper collaboration in creative economy between China and France. This initiative aims to propel Chinese contemporary art, designers, and design brands into the global marketplace with enhanced visibility and integration.
